YouTube added an ‘applause’ button and I kind of hate it
Was watching a video on YouTube and saw a new button.
When you click it, you get this:

Why only a share of the purchase? What is the share?
Clicked the ‘Learn more’ button and read this:
You may be able to buy Viewer applause on participating creators’ videos and show your support for YouTube channels. When you buy Viewer applause, you’re purchasing a one-time “clapping” animation that will only be shown to you over the top of the video.
‘show your support for YouTube channels’? Why not show your support for the creator themselves?
The applause is only shown to you.
My biggest question is how much of the money does the creator get?
