Why did Facebook remove the option to create polls?

Where did Facebook polls go?

I went to post a poll this morning, and couldn’t find the option. I initially thought it was just me, but after googling around it looks like Facebook has removed the option to create polls from the main, or personal page.

Did Facebook remove the ability to create a poll?

My question is why? Polls were one of the most useful parts of Facebook.
