In what has become an annual tradition (see 2023, 2022, and 2021) I spent my lunch hour watching every single Super Bowl commercial and ranking them.

What makes a good Super Bowl commercial?

Brands spend millions of dollars on ad time at the Super Bowl. And sometimes millions more producing the commerical. So you hope they make something good.

Super Bowl ads should be, above all entertaining and memorable. The more the ad relates directly to the product the better. It should make you feel something.

Let’s calibrate our rankings

The best Super Bowl commercial from the past 10 years was Tides ‘It’s a Tide Ad’.

The Tide commercial was so good, because it directly related to the product (all commercials have sparkling clean clothes) was super memorable, (parodies, and it was all you thought about during all the other commercials), and was funny.
